Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Psalm 51:12
Too often we think about our salvation as fire insurance.
We believe that God loved us so much that He sent His son to save us from going to hell. Although that is true in a basic sense, we need to go deeper than that.
We have been saved into the Kingdom of God. We have been purchased and adopted as God’s children. We are entitled to everything God owns. We have the God of the universe on our side rooting for us. We have been given the gift of eternal life to spend it with God, not just at some future date but now.
God’s love for us is so grand that He has joined us together with Him in His joy and happiness. You see, Our God is not an angry, moody, judge sitting on a throne watching our every move and looking for when we screw up so that He can punish us. His plan all along was to have us be as close to Him as possible, to share in His joy.
God is joyful. God is happy. God wants nothing more than for us to experience that joy and happiness with Him. The closer we get to Him, the more and more we want to obey Him because He provides all good things for us now and in the future. Trusting God to provide us with everything we need should bring us joy.
Pray today to experience and feel God’s presence in your life and to receive the joy and happiness He has for you and pray that He will give you the desire to obey Him more and more so that you will receive more and more joy.
